Lead Dog Trainer ($20-25/hour)

We have an immediate opening for Saturdays 8AM-2PM or some portion of that time.

Fur-Get Me Not has an immediate part-time opening for an experienced dog trainer. 

Hours and Availability:

  • Classes: weeknights 4:30pm-9pm, Saturdays 8am-3pm  
  • Privates: offered daily, need to work around client preferred times
  • On Demand Training: daycare dogs daily between 12pm-4pm or at client's home based on their preferred days and times
  • Must be willing to travel within our training service area for at home services: Alexandria, Arlington, Annandale, Fairfax, Falls Church, McLean, and DC

Trainer Responsiblities:

  • Teach group classes, conduct private consults, and one on one training with dog via On Demand services.
  • Demonstrates ability to commit to a specific day for classes and reliably attends given class on a weekly basis. In addtion, has flexible availability to sub for other trainers when they request help.
  • Manage a personal schedule and follow up on communications with clients to book private consults.
  • Internal correspondance with training team members for nightly class wrap-ups, etc.
  • We take a collaborate approach when working with our clients. Trainers must be able to work well with each other on a small team, demonstrate flexibility, and be willing to seek out or offer assistance when determining best or alternative behavior paths for the client.

Requirements:

  • All candidates should have previous experience conducting private training sessions or group classes specifically related to basic manners.
  • Some candidates may also have hands-on experience in behavior-specific (fear, anxiety, reactivity, etc) coaching.
  • Candidate should be able to demonstrate a history of skills using positive training methods and promote these methods actively above all other forms of training. We will not hire trainers that train using punishment-based or "balanced training" methods. We only promote positive reinforcement methods.
  • Candidates must agree to our core principles and goals, to meet clients and dogs where they are without judgement, and develop a mutual trust of relationship with their dogs.
  • Professional and positive attitude with team members and clients. Candidates must equally enjoy working with people as they do with dogs.
  • Actively seek continuing education to expand their behavior knowledge.

Dog Walker ($15+/hour)

At this time we have an immediate need for dog walkers in Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, McLean, and DC.

Dog walks are conducted typically Monday through Friday, between 9AM and 5PM.

Responsibilities include:

  • entering client's homes safely and maintaining their privacy, security, etc
  • leashing up dog and walking outdoors for length of visit
  • picking up dog waste and disposing of it at the client's outdoor receptical
  • completing a short hand-written summary of your visit
  • administering fresh water and a treat (if provided)
  • safely securing dog where client has requested (ie room, crate, etc)
  • must have consistent 3-hour window every day Monday through Friday

Candidates should be comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Candidates must also have a cell phone, be able to to keep track of their schedule, and be accessible on a daily basis.

We will establish a route near your home or other desired location with the goal of maximizing your number of walks and reducing your travel time between customers. Reliable transportation is required. A car is preferred but other types of transportation (e.g. bicycle) work for some neighborhoods.

This position is part time and requires a one year commitment. Occasionally we have seasonal openings, typically over the summer.

Reception Manager (starting at $15/hr)

Fur-Get Me Not has openings for two part time reception managers on our office team.

We are seeking a friendly, well-organized person who enjoys communicating and building relationships with customers, has dog handling skills, and has some sales experience. This position serves to ensure the customer has the best experience in our lobby when dropping off and picking up their dog. Your role will be to oversee the lobby operations, share relevant marketing info or new product information with customers, answer questions, and overall  optimize the customer’s time in our lobby. Our office team manages the relationship with our daycare, dog training, dog walking, and pet sitting customers and supports our field team of pet sitters and dog walkers. This position will also serve as backup field employee and require you to travel to a customer's home to resolve an issue with a current reservation or to temporarily fill in for dog walking while we work on assigning to a regular dog walker or pet sitter. Access to a car is required.

The shifts are 7am-11am or 3pm-7pm. This position has the opportunity to become a full time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting daycare customers and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Guiding dogs from the reception area to the daycare playgroup area at drop-off and pick-up times. You must be comfortable and enjoy handling dogs of all breeds and sizes.
  • Checking in/out daycare and boarding dogs by reviewing their stay instructions, recommending add-on services during their stay, and answering questions.

  • Collecting payment from daycare, boarding, and retail customers.
  • Gaining a deep understanding of Fur-Get Me Not’s current services and helping customers determine which services would benefit their dog. Work with different service managers to learn about a customer’s preference and their dog’s behavior needs.
  • Sharing relevant news with customers as they walk in/out our lobby by promoting company events, daycare events, dog training classes, and new products in retail.
  • Handling in person reservations and service requests from customers.

Canidates should have:

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience
  • Enthusiasm to learn new things and talk with people
  • Relevant marketing experience promoting activities
  • Experience creating promotional materials (e.g. flyers, handouts, displays)

Daycare Attendant (starting at $12/hr)

Our dog daycare is a fun and active place for dogs. We are looking for daycare attendants who love dogs, are energetic, and will be comfortable leading an off leash playgroup.

Responsibilities include:

  • engaging the dogs with toys and creative play
  • cleaning the playrooms daily
  • walking dogs outdoors for potty breaks
  • following daily routine and schedule of crate and rest time/ feeding/ rotation of playrooms
  • writing report cards to report on dog's day

Candidates should demonstrate interest in learning about canine behavior and maintain a calm presence around active dogs. We manage our playgroups using techniques rooted in positive reinforcement dog training.

Shifts are typically between 5-8 hours long. We have openings weekday mornings (6am / 7am start time) and weekday evenings (12:30pm start time). Team members average 15+ hours a week. We are looking for a minimum one year commitment.

This is an entry level position. Direct dog experience not necessary, though helpful. Previous employment history preferred.

Daycare Counselor (starting at $13.25/hr)

Our Daycare Attendants advance to this position typically after 6 months of a regular weekly schedule gaining hands-on experience with the dogs and learning how to manage the daily routine and tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • same as a daycare attendant
  • more experienced role for handling dogs with behavior challenges in group
  • demonstrates advanced knowledge and ability to work with dogs of all playstyles and in any playroom
  • works independently during holiday operations

Shifts are typically between 5-8 hours long. We have openings weekday mornings (6am / 7am start time) and weekday evenings (12:30pm start time). Team members average 15+ hours a week.

Candidates should have 1+ year direct experience working with dogs in a similar capacity. We promote from within. Employees that prefer working directly with the dogs and not seeking advancement may remain at this level.

Daycare Specialist (starting at $14.00/hr)

Advanced position working both inside and outside of playrooms, managing activites and other add-on services.

Responsibilities include:

  • leads lunchtime, opening, and closing operations
  • administers medications
  • provides quality assurance at feeding times and report card communications
  • skilled in dog behaviors in the playrooms and can help offer advice and direction on how dogs should best be handled in group
  • performs enrichment activites and other add-on services as requested by clients and can make recommendations to clients as to which service their dog would enjoy most
  • some administrative work such as vaccination updates, boarding paperwork, and checking in /out dogs
  • backup to perfom dog evaluations

Shifts are typically between 5-8 hours long. We have openings weekday mornings (6am / 7am start time) and weekday evenings (12:30pm start time). Team members average 15+ hours a week.

Candidates should have 3+ year direct experience working with dogs in a similar capacity. We promote from within however some employees prefer to remain at this level rather than advance to management.

Daycare Team Lead (starting at $15.00/hr)

Advanced position leading the daycare team and daily operations and is in training to become an Assistant Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • same as Daycare Specialist
  • daycare department ambassador
  • regularly mentors other team members
  • expert in daily daycare operations
  • performs new dog evaluations
  • regularly communicates with customers to offer resolutions
  • conducts floor interviews with new hire candidates
  • helps manage daily employee schedule, breaks, etc.
  • backup to the Assistant Manager

Shifts are typically between 5-8 hours long. We have openings weekday mornings (6am / 7am start time) and weekday evenings (12:30pm start time). Team members average 15+ hours a week.

Candidates should have 3+ year direct experience working in an operations and customer service role in a similar capacity. Some holidays, weekends required.

Daycare Assistant Manager ($16+/hr)

Lead manager of daily daycare operations and manages daycare department employees.

Responsibilities include:

  • same as Team Leader
  • Fur-Get Me Not company ambassador
  • manages daycare team schedules, time off requests, etc
  • manages new hire training plans and coaches employees through the training process
  • regularly performs 1:1 meetings with employees to obtain employee satisfaction and provide feedback or recommend next steps for advancement
  • runs daily department operations
  • routinely advises, makes recommendations, implements improvements to daily operations

Full-time position 6AM-2PM, 9AM-5PM, or 12PM-8PM.

Candidates should have 4+ year direct experience working in an operations, customer service, and employee manager role in a similar capacity. Holidays, weekends required.

Pet Sitter ($15+/hour)

Pet sitting is conducted while the client is traveling or working late. These visits are conducted typically early in the morning before 9AM and in the evening after 5PM. Pet Sitting is a great way to supplement a full-time job elsewhere and pairs well with being a dog walker.

Responsibilities include:

  • entering client's homes safely and maintaining their privacy, security, etc
  • leashing up dog and walking outdoors for length of visit
  • picking up dog waste and disposing of it at the client's outdoor receptical, cleaning out litter boxes, animal enclosure
  • providing play, feeding, and companionship to dogs, cats, and other small animals
  • completing a short hand-written summary of your visit
  • administering fresh water and a treat (if provided)
  • safely securing dog where client has requested (ie room, crate, etc)

Candidates should be comfortable handling dogs, cats, and other small animals of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Candidates must also have a cell phone, be able to to keep track of their schedule, and be accessible on a daily basis.

We will establish a recurring list of clients near your home or other desired location. Traveling to client's homes is an essential part of this position and you must have a reliable insured vehicle and current driver’s license.

This position is part-time and requires a minimum 1 year commitment. At this time we have an immediate need in Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, McLean, Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Georgetown, Woodley Park, and Capitol Hill areas.

Assistant Trainer ($15/hour)

We have an immediate opening for Saturdays 8AM-2PM or some portion of that time.

Fur-Get Me Not has an immediate part-time opening for an assistant dog trainer. 

Hours and Availability:

  • Classes: weeknights 4:30pm-9pm, Saturdays 8am-3pm

  • Demonstrates ability to commit to a specific day for classes and reliably attends given class on a weekly basis. In addtion, has flexible availability to sub for other trainers when they request help.

  • Internal correspondance with training team members for nightly class wrap-ups, etc.

Office Manager (starting at $15/hour)

One of the things that separates us from other pet care companies is our customer service. Our office managers are a key part of our client's experience in so many ways including their friendliness, communication, and efficiency in fulfilling their reservation requests. We hire office managers to respond to client's incoming reservation requests via phone or email, coordinate key exchanges, assign work to, and verify our dog walking and pet sitting team is conducting visits as scheduled for the day, take payments for daycare and boarding customers in our POS and settle the drawer each day, greet daycare and boarding customers when dropping off their dog or picking up their dog, entering in new client paperwork and vaccinations, and scheduling reservations in our system.

Candidates should be friendly, punctual, have strong communication skills both verbal and written, and have the ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast paced, multi-task and team-oriented environment. Candidates with at least 5 years of work in an office environment as a receptionist, customer service representative or office assistant is preferred. Most importantly, candidate should enjoy helping customers and working in a team environment.

We have both full-time and part-time positions. Full-time shifts are M-F either 7:00am-3pm or 11am-7pm. These positions also require the office manager to be a substitute dog walker (during their shift) when employee emergencies occur, employees are on vacation, or we are short-staffed in a particular area until we are able to get fully staffed. Weekend office manager positions are typically 2-4 shifts a month from either 8:45-6:30 or split shifts 8:45PM-1:45PM or 1:30-6:30PM.
